The point of making the bookends was to give the design a purpose. In the end, they got a bigger job than just holding books. I have two in my apartment and they make the space feel lived in. They take up their own atmosphere while doing their jobs. They also play with the scale of the objects surrounding them. Taking them off my shelf now would leave the space lacking some type of presence. They become quiet friends keeping you company.
